President : Barbara

I’ve been a member of the garden club since 2002, and gardening has been a big part of my life. I love learning about native plants, sustainability, and really just about anything that helps me grow—both in the garden and in life. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in many leadership roles within the club, and as president, I’m excited to help move the club forward through growth, engagement, and stronger connections in our community.

One of my favorite projects has been creating the Plant America Garden Expo, which started in 2023 and continues as an annual event. It’s been wonderful to see vendors, gardeners, and nature lovers come together to learn, share ideas, and explore ways we can be good stewards of God’s creation.

When I’m not busy with gardening or club activities, you’ll usually find me involved in church activities, caring for my chickens, spending time with family and friends, or traveling with my husband. Barb

1st Vice President: Alecia

I joined the club in 2023 to learn more about nature and how to grow my own food. As a novice gardener, I enjoy learning something new each month and appreciate practical, low-maintenance gardening ideas that fit into my busy schedule.

I am a special education teacher, and my work has given me a strong appreciation for hands-on, accessible learning. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, completing puzzles, coloring, watching movies, and snuggling with my cat.

I currently serve as 1st Vice President, and I enjoy bringing a fresh perspective to coordinating speakers and helping shape engaging and informative programs for the club. Alecia

2nd Vice President: Paula

Recently retired after a 30-year nursing career, I have had a lifelong passion for nature that began in childhood—making flower chains from clover blooms, searching for four-leaf clovers, tasting honeysuckle nectar, and remembering the heavenly scent of lily of the valley in my grandmother’s yard.

My motto is that anything green deserves a chance for hope and has its own season. I enjoy the outdoors, chasing sunsets, camping, and photography—especially the challenge of capturing our friendly pollinators, bees and butterflies. Zinnias are a current favorite, as voles sadly overtook my perennial garden.

I joined the garden club in October 2024 after learning about it at the club’s garage sale. As chairperson, my hope is to keep current members engaged while welcoming new prospects by leading through example. The club offers opportunities to build lasting friendships and remain connected to the St. Charles community.
